60% stockholders expect risks in current stock market

www.chinanews.cn 2007-05-29 09:19:58

Chinanews, Guangzhou, May 29 C A recent survey by Panoroma website
showed that 60% of the stockholders thought the current stock market
contained some risks. 25% of the stockholders said there were no obvious
risks in the current market and 14% of the stockholders could not tell
whether there were risks in the stock market, the Information Times
reported.
In order to do the survey, Panoroma website interviewed about 400
investors. The information shows that only 32.85% of the stockholders buy
and sell stocks based on their own analysis and 67.15% of the investors
buy and sell stocks by listening to other peoples opinions. Among the
latter group, 38.33% of investors buy stocks recommended by stock
websites; 14.41% of investors buy stocks through newspaper recommendation
and another 14.41% buy stocks because their friends or relatives have
made suggestions to them.
To some extent, the report has shattered the overwhelming opinion that
individual stockholders are too optimistic about the stock market.
While the number of new stockholders keeps rising, most new stockholders
make their trading decisions by relying on the opinions of others, which
indicates that individuals are prompted to enter into the stock market
mainly through media information. On the other hand, it also shows that
new stockholders are not sure of their ability in trading stocks.
When some people depend too much on others for their trading activities,
it is no doubt that these individual investors will sell and buy stocks
for marginal profits. In addition, some people are fully aware of the
potential risks as index continues to rise. All these might contribute to
the high trading volume witnessed every day. At the same time, new
stockholders keep entering into the stock market and buying stocks that
previous investors sell, pushing the stock index to rise even higher.
In spite of this, 60% of the stockholders think that the current stock
market contains some risks and they are prepared to leave the market at
any time. This shows that the current market contains some big
uncertainties: whenever there are fluctuations, these people will be the
first to withdraw from the market.
