Six-party talks begin in Beijing

Top U.S. negotiator to the six-party talks Christopher Hill met reporters
before leaving a hotel in Beijing for a meeting with his Chinese
counterpart Wu Daiwei on Wednesday morning. Six-party talks aimed at
eliminating North Korea's nuclear programmes began in Beijing on
Wednesday, July 18, with envoys seeking to implement the next stages of a
disarmament accord, according to related sources. The envoys �C from
China, the DPRK, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Russia and
Japan -- held a series of bilateral meetings on Wednesday morning, before
the official group discussions began around 2:30 pm.
